Build meaningful relationships with seniors

Lynn Lewis Foundation offers an intergenerational program that will help create new positive relationships with youth and children with senior citizens.

This program seeks to increase senior citizens’ sense of purpose, leading and empowering them to greater self-esteem and increased quality of life. Spending time tutoring and mentoring youth provides seniors with an opportunity to transfer knowledge, skills, and values to the next generation.

Moreover, by spending time in a positive relationship with a senior, the younger generation gains a better understanding of the process of aging. They may also find older adults to be supportive role models, which may lead to an increase in the youths’ motivation to learn, leadership skills, and communication skills.
